About Us

Ujamaa Empowerment Project is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation based in Washington State that provides college and at-risk high school students with volunteer service opportunities in East Africa and other sub-Saharan countries.  While abroad, students participate in a rich volunteer and cultural program and learn about the host country's history, customs and practices by visiting museums, historical sites and engaging in unique cultural activities.
